Brief description In the form of wholemeal flour barley is one of the best feed concentrates and can be used for any type of farm animal. Rarely used. It is an integral part of animal feed, particularly for poultry, cattle, calves, pigs, horses and sheep. It is administered to animals in different forms: in cobs, in whole or hulled grain, steamed and crushed, milled.  
Nutritional peculiarities Rich in cellulose and with low protein content, although slightly more significant than in oats, it is a source of energy. It is indicated for dairy cows, constituting from 40 to 60% of the concentrate feed mixture. Rich in cellulose. It is an excellent feed for dairy cows, very nutritious and with low protein content: it must be integrated with feeds that compensate the protein deficiency.  
Impact on animal health. It has a refreshing and invigorating dietary value. It makes feed mixtures more digestible. To enhance its digestibility it should be used as part of the concentrate together with forages rich in cellulose, such as bran or ground barley.  
Impact on animal productivity It supports and improves milk production and has a production value of 88% compared to corn.   It increases productivity.
