Comparison between sliced cheese price and Asiago price
The cheese producers are currently adapting their offer to the new food lifestyle (fast food, brunch, snacks etc...) by proposing a new type of cheese: the sliced cheese. In the Italian scenario, the "Asiago Pressato" may comply with this consumption habit. It is in fact a top cheese both for taste and quality.

The present graph and tables compare, over a three year period, the wholesale prices of Asiago (PDO) and some common cheeses, namely not typical, such as Cheddar (Oceania) and Edamer (Germany). All these types of cheeses have a presence on the international market.

To note that the Asiago ranks high in terms of price compared to other cheeses. However this is due mainly:
  • to the high quality of raw milk (collected also in the hills and mountains) that gives a peculiar taste to this kind of cheese;
  • and to the geographically restricted area of Asiago cheese production.
