EU Agricultural Products Atlas: self-sufficiency rate for Agricultural Products

A key factor determining international trade is the Self-sufficiency of countries around the world.
The self-sufficiency rate of a country measures how much of its agricultural product demand is covered by domestic production.

< 100% Deficit country, more reliant on imports.
100% Self-sufficient country, with a balance between domestic supply and demand.
> 100% Surplus country, more oriented towards exports.

In addition to trade with the rest of the world, Europe is also a hub of active trade between EU Member States, including Italy.

The Agricultural Products Atlas compares self-sufficiency balances, production, imports and exports across EU-27 countries, providing a simple and effective way to monitor their evolution over time.

The analysis is based on Eurostat data.
