Prices of Pork meat in the EU-27

The European Union is a major player in the global pork market and has an intense trade of products between its member states.

In this context, comparing the prices of the main cuts of pork in different European countries represents an important tool for evaluating the differences in product valuation and market evolution.

Prices collected by AgriData according to a harmonized European methodology allow for comparisons between Member States. The survey, conducted weekly, covers loin, pancetta, shoulder, ham, and minced pork; values ​​are expressed in €/100 kg of product, net of VAT, and reported on a monthly basis.

The product definitions adopted by the European Commission may, however, differ from the commercial specifications used in individual national markets. In particular, for Italy, AgriData prices are not necessarily comparable to the corresponding CUN quotations, as the composition of the cut, the degree of trimming, and the presence of bones, rind, and subcutaneous fat may differ.

Loin Upper part of the side of the carcass, with bones and with or without tenderloin, shoulder bone, subcutaneous fat or rind. Loin Bologna or Padua, according to the cut specification.
Ham Rear part of the side of the carcass, including the bones, with or without foot, shank, rind or subcutaneous fat. Fresh leg trimmed for raw ham, according to weight specifications.
Shoulder Lower part of the forequarter, with or without shoulder blade, bones, foot, shin, rind or subcutaneous fat. Fresh boneless and defatted shoulder of 5.5 kg and above.
Minced meat Pig minced meat. Not directly comparable to a specific CUN quote.
